Wrong Way Signing Safety Improvements

Location: Duval County, FL
Client: Florida Department of Transportation – District Two
Project Description: Prepared signing and marking plans and bid documents  for the addition of “Wrong Way” signs at 82 limited access interchanges in Duval County.  This project was the result of a Statewide Wrong Way Crash Study prepared in April 2015 that identified 6,300 wrong way crashes in the state of Florida between 2009 and 2013.  This project is currently under construction.

SR 91 (Florida Turnpike) Safety Improvements

Location: Lake County, FL
Client:  Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise 
Project Description: Prepared roadway, signing & marking, structures and lighting  plans for improvements to 10 miles of SR 91 (Florida’s  Turnpike) from MP 287 (Leesburg Toll Plaza) to MP 297 (Sumter County line) in Lake County. The horizontal curve over SR 25 (US 27) required super-elevation correction to meet the 70 MPH design speed.  Significant effort was required preparing traffic control plans for the super-elevation correction without having daytime or weekend lane closures while meeting the Florida Turnpike’s pavement drainage requirements.

SR 482 (Sand Lake Road) Safety Improvements

Location: Orange County, FL 
Client: Florida Department of Transportation – District Five
Project Description: Prepared roadway, signing and marking, signalization plans and bid  documents for the resurfacing of SR 482 (San Lake Road) from  Golden Sky Lane to Lake Gloria Boulevard in Orange County.  This  project was funded by safety funds and included milling and  resurfacing of SR 482 (Sand Lake Rd) in Orlando with an open- graded friction course (FC-5) to improve skid resistance during wet weather conditions, provide bike lane keyholes and additional pedestrian features at Voltaire Drive with other minor ADA compliance upgrades. The project was 1.3 miles in length.  After performing a pedestrian study, 3400 LF of new sidewalk was added to the project.
