Belfort Road - Jacksonville, Florida

Client: City of Jacksonville - RCMG (River City Management Group)

Project Description: This project included a Traffic Study for 5- and 20-year traffic volumes. The preliminary design phase included the preparation of a final engineering report; the preparation of graphics for public presentations; and participation in public meetings. Final design was authorized for preparation of final construction documents for this project. The work included roadway, drainage, right-of-way maps, signing and striping, traffic signal modifications, water & force main design, maintenance of traffic and other related design. The SJRWMD permit was acquired in March 1999.

Scope of Work: Performed the Study/Conceptual Design and the Final Design for the proposed reconstruction of Belfort Road from Touchton Road to Hogan Road.

County Road A1A- St. Augustine, Florida

Contracted by St. Johns County Construction Services Department, Connelly & Wicker performed design and construction phase services for this 3 lane reconstruction and widening project along 3,500 Linear feet of CR A1A. Design services included stormwater, utility and drainage improvements. Permitting agency coordination with St. Johns County Public Works Department, the City of St. Augustine Beach, St. Johns County Real Estate and St. Johns River Water Management District was also included in our scope of services.

Jacksonville International Airport (JIA) South Access Road - Jacksonville, Florida

In September 2002, the Florida Department of Transportation began this $17 million project to build a new connector road to the terminal area from I-295 and Duval Road, and an overpass at Airport Road. This new road provides an additional route to the airport for all travelers and will assist the commercial users of the distribution facilities adjacent to JIA. This project was let for construction in 2002 and completed in April 2004

Connelly & Wicker was contracted by the Florida Department of Transportation to provide engineering services for this new 4-lane alignment. The project length was 1.7 miles and included a bridge over Pickett Branch. Scope of services included roadway & drainage, signing & pavement marking, lighting, irrigation and landscape design. This new 4-lane rural roadway is to serve as the south access road to the Jacksonville International Airport from I-295. The stormwater management system utilized 15-foot wide grass shoulders to provide the stormwater treatment and the attenuation was accomplished in the roadside ditches, which eliminated the need for stormwater detention ponds.

College Street / SR 228 - Jacksonville, Florida

Connelly & Wicker was contracted by Florida Department of Transportation for a Miscellaneous Minor Design contract. Under this contract 1.453 miles of College Street (SR 228) from Margaret Street to Post Street in Jacksonville, Florida was milled and resurfaced. Roadway design included signalization, signing and pavement markings and stormwater inlet replacement.

Wonderwood Connector - Segment 1, JTA - Jacksonville, Florida

Wonderwood is a new 2.5 mile, 4-lane roadway with a 45-foot median and bikeways on both sides. Connelly & Wicker Inc. was responsible Segment 1 of the three-part project. Our portion included a 912 foot bridge over Mount Pleasant Creek and the design of eight stormwater ponds. Connelly & Wicker Inc. provided complete civil engineering design and permitting services for the new alignment including identification of right-of-way requirements in a heavily developed residential area. Connelly & Wicker provided initial design documents within seven months of the Notice to Proceed in order to begin right-of-way acquisition.

State Road 63, FDOT District 3 - Gadsden County, Florida

Under a single contract, Connelly & Wicker Inc. was awarded design of four projects for the Florida Department of Transportation - District 3. One of the projects was SR 63 from the Leon County Line to SR 159. The project included replacement of the northbound and southbound bridges over the Ochlockonee River and Relief Channel on SR 63 with lengths of 1302 feet for the river bridges and 653 feet for the relief bridges.

In 2002, Connelly & Wicker Inc. discontinued bridge structural engineering as an in-house professional service, determining at this time to concentrate our transportation resources to the engineering design of roadway projects. With nearly 20 years engineering experience, Connelly & Wicker has well-established relationships with firms dedicated to structural engineering that enables our firm to continue to provide quality engineering to the transporting public on projects involving structural engineering.

State Road 200, FDOT District 2 - Nassau County, Florida

State Road 200 in Nassau County is a reconstruction project that is 11 miles long. The project consists of 2.5 miles of urban 4-lane roadway and 8.5 miles of rural 4-lane from an existing 2-lane rural road.

I-95 Design / Build

The design and construction companies of Anderson Columbia Co., Inc. and Connelly & Wicker Inc. partnered for the six-laning of I-95 for the Florida Department of Transportation District Two utilizing the Design/Build delivery method. The project, which is currently under construction, is more than 12 miles long and includes widening, milling and resurfacing from SR 207 to International Golf Parkway (World Golf Village). The $24.5 million project is the first significant design/build effort by District Two.
