UNF Brooks College of Health Courtyards – University of North Florida, Jacksonville, Florida

Connelly & Wicker teamed with Elkins Construction Inc. for the courtyards at Brooks College of Health at the University of North Florida. Connelly & Wicker Inc. is the Landscape Architect of record for two new courtyards on either side of the new building expansion of the Brooks College of Health. One courtyard will be a Bamboo Courtyard with winding paths which create intimate gathering spaces. CWI utilized its Engineering Team to provide grading and drainage drawings for this courtyard as the space was very compact and virtually locked between 3 buildings. The utilization of pervious concrete for some of the walkways assisted in containing water on site, and also meets LEED criteria.

The second courtyard contains a water feature with a sculpture as its focal point. A circular paver area surrounds the water feature and contains a trellis and enhanced landscaping. CWI was also responsible for irrigation and lighting design.
